Highest Gun Violence Against Women
Gun violence against women in the US is extremely high compared to other countries. In spite of having less than half the population of 28 other high-income countries, the US had 11 times the number of female gun deaths in 2015. In that year, 5,201 women died of gun violence, equal to 14 per day.
The US has 25 times the female gun death rate of 3.2 per 100,000 persons, and 21 times the female gun homicide rate of 1.2 per 100,000 persons compared to 28 other high-income countries.
Women are 25 times more likely to die from a gun, and 21 times more likely to be murdered by a gun in the US.
